From 17 to 19 November 2016, Alejandro Sánchez-Rico de las Heras as ICT4life coordinator attended the 20th annual meeting organised by the European Society for Patient Adherence, COMpliance, and Persistence (ESPACOMP) in Lisbon, Portugal.
The three-day event started with an introduction meeting on 17th of November 2016. Prior to the ESPACOMP final scientific meeting, two pre-conference workshops have been held in parallel sessions. The workshop 1 focused on “Implementing and sustaining of adherence interventions in real world settings” while in the workshop 2 focused on “Inter-professional course in optimizing patient’s adherence to treatment in healthcare”.
In general terms, the annual meeting of ESPACOM is aimed at covering the main aspects related to medication taking behaviour.
ESPACOMP is a non-profit association and mainly works with an international audience composed of researchers, pharmaco-epidemiologists, statisticians and industry people interested in compliance and persistence. Its main objective is to study the medication taking behaviour and to evaluate the difference between caregivers’ prescriptions and patients’ execution of that prescription.
